June 16, 2015

              The Miner County Board of Commissioners met in regular session June 16, 2015, in the Miner County Courthouse.  Members present:  Roger Wentland, Tom Reisch, Garrett Gassman, Alex Protsch, and Voni Durant.  Absent:  none.  Chairman Wentland called the meeting to order.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  Motion by Durant, seconded by Gassman and carried to approve the agenda.

                The minutes of the June 2nd meeting were approved.

                Community Health Nurse Barb Esser reported that Heidi Tobin has been hired to fill the CHN clerical position.  Ms. Tobin will begin her duties June 22nd. 

                It was moved by Reisch, seconded by Durant and carried to approve the JDC Joint Powers Addendum to continue the July 1, 1995 Joint Powers Agreement to provide for the temporary care, shelter, and detention of juveniles who are involved with the court system.  That agreement is scheduled to expire June 30, 2015.  The addendum will extend the provisions of the joint powers agreement for another two year period.

                Auditor Connor presented a preliminary review of the 2016 Provisional Budget.  Further review and discussion will take place at the July 7th meeting. 

                Director of Equalization Tami Severson presented a tentative schedule for completing a complete reappraisal of all property within the municipalities and townships of Miner County.  The proposed schedule begins this year with the town of Canova and begin commercial property in the county; 2016 commercial property; 2017 Howard City residential; 2018 Carthage City residential 2019-2021 townships and Vilas Village.  Adjustments will be made to this schedule according to the work load.

                Highway Superintendent Ron Krempges updated the commission on highway projects taking place with the department.  Currently the department is assisting Kingsbury County with various road projects.  Krempges suggested that reimbursement from Kingsbury County be made through gravel reimbursement.    He also reviewed the Administrative Rules for the County Highway & Bridge Improvement Plan.  The department will be replacing a culvert located in Vermillion Township within the next week.

                Treasurer Debbie Eggert joined the meeting to present information on various properties that are now available for tax deed.  Commissioners instructed her to begin the process within her office. 

                Commissioners recognized Deanne Krantz on her retirement and thanked her for her 28 years of dedicated service to the Register of Deeds office and the citizens of Miner County.
