June 2, 2015

 

                The Miner County Board of Commissioners met in regular session June 2, 2015, in the Miner County Courthouse.  Members present:  Roger Wentland, Tom Reisch, Garrett Gassman, and Voni Durant.  Absent:  Alex Protsch.  Chairman Wentland called the meeting to order.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  Motion by Gassman, seconded by Reisch and carried to approve the agenda as amended.

The Auditor’s account with the County Treasurer showed a May 31, 2015 balance of $5,618,240.24 in all state, county, civil, school, and trust accounts.

                The minutes of the May 19th meeting were approved. 

                Commissioners’ acknowledge receipt of the following correspondence:  Miner County Sheriff & Dispatch March & April reports; and SD DENR General Surface Water Discharge Permit.

                Motion by Durant, seconded by Reisch and carried to enter into the agreement with the SD Department of Health for WIC (Women, Infant & Children) services for the 2015-16 year. 

                Commissioner Durant informed the board that the Southeast Central District is considering the possibility of submitting a resolution to the legislature adjusting the amount for bid requirements.  A draft will be sent out for consideration at a future meeting.

                State’s Attorney Greg Protsch introduced his summer intern, Kristian Ellendorf.  Ms. Ellendorf will be assisting the State’s Attorney through August when she will return to USD to finish her final year of law school. 

                The board reviewed a plat submitted for consideration.  It was moved by Gassman and seconded by Durant to approve the following resolution.

RESOLUTION 15-12

                BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Miner County, South Dakota, that the plat of R.T. FELDHAUS TRACT A IN THE SE ¼ OF THE SW ¼ AND IN THE SW ¼ OF THE SE ¼ OF SECTION 13, T 106 N, R 56 W OF THE 5TH P.M., MINER COUNTY, SOUTH DAKOTA, which has been submitted for examination pursuant to law, is hereby approved and the County Auditor is hereby authorized and directed to endorse on such plat a copy of this Resolution and certify the same.

                Voting aye:  Reisch, Durant, Gassman and Wentland.  Voting nay:  none.  Resolution adopted this 2nd day of June, 2015.

                Community Health Nurse Barb Esser presented her quarterly CHN report.

                Welfare Director Gibi Page presented poor relief applications 15-02; 15-03; 15-04; 15-05; 15-06; 15-07; 15-08; and 15-09.  It was moved by Reisch, seconded by Durant and carried to deny poor relief applications 15-02; 15-03; 15-04; 15-05; 15-06; 15-07; 15-08; and 15-09 due to lack of information available to determine income and residency eligibility (SDCL 28-13-1).
