            The Miner County Board of Commissioners met in adjourned session March 6, 2012, in the Miner County Courthouse.  Members present:  Don Bowman, Pat Maroney, Roger Wentland, Voni Durant and Heath Thompson.  Absent:  none.  Chairman Thompson called the meeting to order.

            The Auditor’s account with the County Treasurer showed a February 28, 2012 balance of $3,615,206.13 in all state, county, civil, school, and trust accounts.

Motion by Durant, seconded by Wentland and carried to approve the agenda as amended.

            Motion by Durant, seconded by Bowman and carried to enter into executive session to discuss personnel issues (9:05).  The board returned to regular session (9:10).

            Dave Bartel and Gary Boomsma of the James River Water Development District board reviewed issues with the James River District including the legislative audit report and SB 160.

            Motion by Wentland, seconded by Durant and carried to designate Chairman Heath Thompson and Emergency Management Director Robert Calmus to authorize a request for fire suppression assistance from the Sate of South Dakota. 

            Miner County has been award a grant for the update of the Miner County Hazard Mitigation plan through the SD Dept. of Public Safety.

            Auditor Susan Connor presented the 2011 Miner County Annual Report.

            Highway Superintendent Ron Krempges reported on placing of spring weight load limits and other highway matters.

            Motion by Bowman, seconded by Maroney and carried to purchase a 2012 644K John Deere Wheel Loader with scale off of the Potter County bid, $203,900.00.

            States Attorney Greg Protsch joined the meeting.  Welfare Director Gibi Page presented poor relief cases 12-02, 12-03, and 12-04.  Motion by Durant, seconded by Wentland and carried to deny 12-02, 12-03, and 12-04 due to lack of information to determine residency and eligibility. 

            Motion by Maroney, seconded by Bowman to enter into executive session to complete employee reviews. (11:06).  Returned to regular session (11:14).

            Commissioners along with Zoning Administrator Kay Hageman reviewed the correspondence from 1st District concerning zoning application fees.
