              The Miner County Board of Commissioners met in regular session February 2, 2016, in the Miner County Courthouse.  Members present:  Garrett Gassman, Roger Wentland, Voni Durant, Tom Reisch and Alex Protsch.  Absent:  none.  Chairman Wentland called the meeting to order.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

            The Auditor’s account with the County Treasurer showed a January 31, 2016 balance of $5,111,706.26 in all state, county, civil, school, and trust accounts.

 

              Motion by Protsch, seconded by Durant and carried to approve the agenda as amended.  The minutes of the January 19th meeting were approved.

              Commissioner acknowledged receipt of the following correspondence:  SD Dept. of Transportation Approval of Miner County’s 5 Yr. Road & Bridge Plan; Madison Domestic Violence Network Thank You; Miner County Ambulance 2015 annual report.

              It was moved by Gassman, seconded by Reisch and carried to approve the 2016 Lake County Prisoner Housing Agreement.

              Commissioners made no change in the designation for assistance with the US Dept. of Ag Wildland Fire Division.  The designees will remain as Emergency Management Director Bob Calmus and Board Chair Roger Wentland.

              Director of Equalization Tami Severson and Commissioner Voni Durant will attend the SD LTAP hosted informational meeting on the Dakota Access Pipeline which will be held on February 10th, in Huron, SD.

Severson presented the following applications for abatement of taxes.  Severson explained that on both applications property was assessed as NA and when transferring to owner occupied the NA values were not deleted.

              It was moved by Durant, seconded by Protsch and carried to approve the abatement applications of Shawn Kidd for the S 670’ of W 689’ of NW ¼ SW ¼ 20-106-55 (tax abated $295.86) and of Joshua Olsem for Tract 2 of Kleinberg’s Addition SW ¼ 35-105-55 (tax abated $202.38) due to an error in the Director of Equalization’s office in entering the valuation thereof.

              Custodian Colleen Zobel requested permission to purchase a new floor wet vac to assist with finishing of floors within the courthouse.  She also reported on replacing the carpet within the 3rd floor courtroom.  Estimates will be sought so this project may proceed.

              The board reviewed Clark County’s bid for Rubberized Crack Filler.  Highway Superintendent Ron Krempges requested the bid be approved.   It was moved by Reisch, seconded by Durant and carried to approve the Clark County bid for rubberized crack filler awarded to Brock White for the price of $.64/lb.
