June 21, 2016

                The Miner County Board of Commissioners met in regular session June 21, 2016 in the Miner County Courthouse.  Members present:  Roger Wentland, Tom Reisch, Garrett Gassman, Voni Durant, and Alex Protsch.  Absent:  none.  Chairman Wentland called the meeting to order.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  Motion by Protsch, seconded by Durant and carried to approve the agenda. 

                The minutes of the June 9th meeting were amended to add Auditor Connor as present for executive session. 

The Auditor’s account with the County Treasurer showed a May 31, 2016 balance of $6,205,555.55 in all state, county, civil, school, and trust accounts.

Correspondence was received from SD DOT regarding STIP Public Meetings. 

The board reviewed the Employee Funeral (Memorial) Policy.  It has been the policy of past commissions not to provide funds for flowers/memorials.  Any flowers/memorials sent are funded by the employees personally.  Therefore, it was moved by Gassman, seconded by Durant and carried unanimously to deny the claim for memorial flowers purchased from Baker’s Design with the use of the county credit card. 

Zoning Administrator Tami Severson presented the following plat for consideration.  It was moved by Protsch and seconded by Gassman to approve the following resolution. 

RESOLUTION 16-12

BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Miner County, South Dakota, that the plat of Tract 1, Inga’s Addition in the NW ¼ of the NW ¼ of Section 27, T 108N, R 56W, 5th P.M., Miner County, South Dakota which has been submitted for examination pursuant to law, is hereby approved and the County Auditor is hereby authorized and directed to endorse on such plat a copy of this resolution and certify the same. 

                Voting aye:  Protsch, Gassman, Durant, Reisch, and Wentland.  Voting nay:  none.  Resolution adopted this 21st day of June, 2016.

                Commissioners reviewed the option for a County Road & Bridge Levy.  The board took no action.

                Highway Superintendent Ron Krempges informed the board about machinery repairs, chip sealing and patching progress, and reviewed his 2017 budget request.  First District will be assisting with updating the 2017 Miner County Highway & Bridge Improvement Plan.

                Review of the 2017 budget requests took place at the end of the meeting.  Further analysis of those requests will be discussed at the July & August meetings.
