The Miner County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on February 21, 2017 in the Miner County Courthouse.  Members present:  Roger Wentland, Alex Protsch, Garrett Gassman, and Tom Reisch. Absent:  Lavonne Durant.  Chairman Wentland called the meeting to order.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  It was moved by Gassman, seconded by Protsch and carried to approve the agenda.

 

The minutes of the February 7th meeting were approved as presented.

 

The following correspondence was received:  Miner County Conservation & NRCS Reports for January; Stanley Co. Ft. Pierre Bicentennial Celebration Wagon Train; and Miner County Sheriff & 911 January 2017 reports.

 

Through a partnership between NACo, the National Flag Foundation and the National Sheriff’s Association counties can request flag disposal boxes to place within the county so residents can drop off their old, tattered and torn flags for a proper, dignified disposal.  Miner County will be requesting a flag disposal box that shall be placed on the first floor of the Miner County Courthouse.

 

Compensatory time policy was studied with several changes being suggested.  A draft of the changes will be presented at the next commission meeting and considered for adoption.

 

Community Counseling Services through correspondence requested names for consideration in serving as a Miner County representative on the Community Counseling Services’ Board of Directors.  A response will be sent.

 

Highway Superintendent Ron Krempges reviewed highway matters including placement of spring load limits, equipment, & LTAP meeting to be held in Brookings.
