October 1, 2013

            The Miner County Board of Commissioners met in regular session October 1, 2013, in the Miner County Courthouse.  Members present:  Don Bowman, Voni Durant, Pat Maroney, Alex Protsch and Roger Wentland.  Absent:  none.  Chairman Wentland called the meeting to order.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

            Motion by Durant, seconded by Protsch and carried to approve the agenda as amended.

            It was moved by Maroney and seconded by Durant to adopt the following resolution.

RESOLUTION 13-26

            WHEREAS, insufficient appropriation was made in the 2013 budget for the county jail department to discharge just obligation of said appropriation; and

            WHEREAS, SDCL 7-21-32.2 provides that transfers may be made by resolution of the board from the contingency appropriation established pursuant to SDCL 7-21-6.1 to other appropriations;

            THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the appropriation be transferred from contingency to county jail, $5000.

            Voting aye:  Protsch, Maroney, Bowman, Durant and Wentland.  Voting nay:  none.  Resolution approved this 1st day of October, 2013.

            Motion by Maroney, seconded by Protsch and carried to authorize Brad Stangohr of Ulteig to continue with engineering services for the proposed upgrade of the courthouse parking lot and front entrance.

            Highway Superintendent Ron Krempges reviewed gravel crushing progress, culvert replacement and other highway matters.

            Claims allowed: Century Link $98.49 911 charges; Philip R. Parent $573.20 court appointed attorneys; Yankton Co Sheriff Office $25.00 mental illness hearing expense; Dickenson Co Sheriff $22.00 other professional services; Miner Co Treasurer $138.00 postage; Miner County Pioneer $42.00 publishing; Mid-American Research $338.39, Rockmount Research & Alloys $501.38, Smilemakers $119.07, Vilas Sales & Service $29.45 supplies; AT&T $132.03 telephone; Safety Benefits $65.00 travel; City of Howard $2,055.76 utilities.

            The meeting adjourned to October 15, 2013.  Dated this 1st day of October, 2013.
